Backstory

I grew up in West Tokyo, surrounded by mountains and trees. During school, I trained with a swimming club every day, often swimming 5-6 kilometers at a time. The training was so intense that steam would rise from our bodies, at times even pushing me to tears. In retrospect, those experiences are now positive memories of persistence and resilience, and ones I owe my determination to never give up.

A side project or hobby you’re obsessed with?

I recently began practicing yoga. It has improved my flexibility and restored balance to both my body and mind. Breathing techniques have now become an essential way for me to recharge and stay positive amidst the busy days.

My career began at Sumitomo Corporation, where I learned about global business and inspired me to seek even more exposure in international transactions. Subsequently, I spent nearly 18 years at Unison Capital, where I covered cross-border fund operations across multiple fund vintages - it was at Unison where I gained expertise in legal, accounting, tax matters, cash management, and Limited Partner relations. Most recently, I was directly involved in launching an engagement fund of over 1 billion dollars. This included designing novel structures and terms, translating such to congratcs, and establishing day-to-day operations from the ground up. While I am new to venture capital, I am inspired daily by the passion and work of founders and portfolio companies. I hope to contribue beyond fund o perations, taking a broader and more proactive role alongside entrepreneurs.
