Legal & Compliance

Backstory

I grew up in Melbourne and began my legal career in private practice, specializing in litigation. My career took an exciting turn when I moved to Hong Kong, where I transitioned into corporate finance, and eventually moved in-house. In my last role in Hong Kong, I worked for a financial institution, and I loved the challenge of working in such a fast-paced, high-energy environment. Although Melbourne will always be home, I’ve spent nearly half my life living in London, Hong Kong, and now Tokyo. Today, I’m inspired by the drive and passion of my colleagues at MPower as they help start-ups turn their big ideas into reality, nurturing innovation.

What’s a book, podcast, or movie that’s had a big impact on you - and why?

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. This book stayed with me because it put a human face to a scientific legacy I had never questioned before. Learning about Henrietta’s story made me reflect on the people behind major breakthroughs, and how easily their contributions (especially those from marginalized communities) can be overlooked. It reminded me how important it is to honour both progress and the people who make it possible.

About Chi

I was raised and went to school in Melbourne, Australia. I joined MPower in late 2021 to help with legal and compliance matters. Prior to MPower I worked in legal and compliance for a financial institution in Hong Kong.
