MPower Partners Fund, Japan’s first ESG-focused global venture capital fund, has invested in US-based Jupiter, the leading provider of predictive data and analytics for climate risk and resilience.

Given the rising incidence of extreme climate events, plus growing pressure from global regulators on public and private sector organizations to assess the risks from climate change, the need for more accurate assessments of climate risks is rapidly growing. Jupiter has developed a next-generation climate risk analytics system for predicting multi-hazard risks, such as floods and windstorms caused by climate change, with a 90m grid mapping which covers the entire planet, something no other firm has been able to accomplish. In addition to the granularity of its models, which can assess individual assets from 1 hour to 50 years, it also provides a unique service which can assess portfolios of assets (such as mortgage loans for banks).
